Many Facebook users have found themselves locked out of their accounts due to an oversight on their part or an error on the part of Facebook itself. Whatever the reason, if you need to unlock your Facebook account, there are several steps you can take to get back into your account without having to spend any money or share any personal details with anyone else. In this guide, we will walk through how to unlock your Facebook account using four simple steps that will take no more than 15 minutes of your time, and in most cases, you won’t need any computer skills at all to complete them.
1) Enter your email address or phone number
In order to unlock your account, you will need to provide the information that matches one of the following:
1. The phone number or email address associated with your account
2. The last four digits of your Social Security number
3. If you have access to another device (computer or phone) that has been used by you and is not currently locked, you can request a temporary password from the Forgot my password link on our login screen.
2) Choose how you want to reset your password
1) Go to the Security tab on your Settings page. 2) Find the Reset your password section and click show more. 3) Enter your phone number, then tap the green checkmark button. You will receive a text message with a link to create a new password. 4) Follow the instructions on the website and choose a new password for your account. 5) Log back into your account and update any other personal information that might have changed since you created it.
3) Enter the code that was sent to you
Enter the code that was sent to you on the above email address and click Unlock. Once your account has been unlocked, you will be able to log in with your password.
If you do not remember your password, please reset it by clicking Forgot Password below.
If you can't access your email address, please call 1-800-MYFBF (1-800-6932) for help.
4) Choose a new password
Choosing a new password is the first step. It’s important that you choose a password that has both numbers and letters, is at least 14 characters long, and mixes capital and lowercase letters. Try to use your name or nickname for an easy-to-remember password. Once you have chosen a new password, it's time to set up two-factor authentication.
